Vehicle Description Highlights Genuine 1963 Austin Mini Mk I Right-Hand Drive - New Zealand Market Car Upgraded 998cc Cooper Engine with Desirable 12G295 Cylinder Head Classic Early Mk I Details Sliding Windows, External Hinges & Push-Button Start About We are pleased to offer this charming 1963 Austin Mini Mk I , finished in classic Almond Green with an Old English White roof . We recently acquired this Mini from a longtime friend , and its history makes it particularly interesting. This is a genuine right-hand-drive Mk I that was originally in New Zealand before being imported to the United States in early 2001 . It retains the wonderful early-Mini character enthusiasts look for, including its sliding side windows, external door hinges, interior door pull cords, classic moustache grille and push-button starter. At some point in its history, the original 850cc engine was replaced with a more desirable 998cc Cooper engine fitted with a 12G295 cylinder head . The engine compartment was also carefully detailed, giving the car an especially tidy presentation. Previous documentation described the Mini as an award-winning example that had participated successfully in local, regional and national shows, including an event in Rockford, Illinois. The car was also noted for its straight bodywork, clean condition and lack of rust. The combination of Almond Green and Old English White suits the car perfectly and gives it exactly the period-correct British appearance you would hope to see on an early Mini. Between the right-hand-drive seating position, tiny proportions, unmistakable Mk I styling and upgraded Cooper powerplant, this Mini offers a driving experience unlike virtually anything else on the road. Its wonderfully simple design, tiny footprint and unmistakable personality make it equally enjoyable as a weekend driver, show car or addition to a collection of significant British automobiles. Having acquired it from a longtime friend , we are excited to now offer this very special Mk I Mini to its next caretaker. |
